The 'five dots' tattoo is not about the army, but a well-known sign of 'have been imprisoned', at least in our country. It is typical on the root of the left thumb, exactly where this guy has it. It meaning is that the four dots in the corners represent the four walls of the cell and the dot in the middle is the prisoner.

I learned it while working as a paramedic.

Zsombor, the same happens here AFAIK.
He mentioned the Army, though.
And that he regrets it.
