'Ugly can be beautiful. Paris may be beautiful but I prefer New York because there's a certain kind of craziness, neuroses in the air, a temperament on the street: it's just an endless vat of information'.
'I don't think too much. I just take pictures. I've got to be quick. Because if I'm not quick, then it's gone. I don't get releases on the street. You couldn't do the kind of photography I do by speaking to the people before you take the picture'.
